“MAINTAINING PROPER TIRE INFLATION” AT THE LOWEST COST IS A KEY FACTOR IN MINIMIZING FLEET OPERATING COST

“How can we as society improve our plight while making a healthier profit for our company’s” while doing just that?

Maintaining proper tire inflation is incredulously important in maintaining bottom line profits of any fleet of vehicles. Where the rubber meets the road is where thousands of dollars are robbed from corporate coffers. This has not been the best kept secret by any stretch of the imagination, because until now, there has been no secret to maintaining tire inflation. Instead the challenge of reducing the cost of tire inflation monitoring schemes remains a mystery to most fleet maintenance managers. Time is money, and time races on while millions of vehicles romp down our roads, washing billions of dollars in “skins”, and therefore, profits down the drain.

It’s not just the “skins”, and corporate profits, that are being needlessly burned up in this debacle. The bigger tragedy is the toll these wasteful practices are taking on our environment. Business’ are burning multiple billions more dollars in wasted gasoline, pushing tires the hard way, under-inflated, down that same road. There seems to be no other choice to the folks making these daily decisions, while they cast millions of tons of pollutants needlessly into the atmosphere. These decision makers, that being fleet managers, are doing exactly what they have been doing for years, using the same manual tire inflation monitoring methods, to do the same jobs day after day. New ideas come along every once in a while! A manager, by definition, needs to keep abreast of new developments to take the profit home to the bank.

If that is not enough heart ache to shoulder, don’t forget, for every tire that dies an early death, before it’s time is up, there is a price we are all paying by wasting natural resources. The literal cost to destroy a tire is not to be ignored: the cost to dispose of the average truck tire casing is $12.00. This is the cost to simply put that tire to rest in a recycling mill. Obtaining longer tire life will bring profit back to life from that shallow grave, and reduce pollutants by that same percentage.

What percentage would that be? The average motorist that has only four tires to be concerned with, burns 3% more gas every year due to under inflation. Just guess how much is being wasted by an eighteen wheeler running an average of 12 hours a day as compared with the average driver who drives and average of 3 hours a day. The math may be a bit challenging but the answer is not, as it is as plain on the nose on your face. Tons and tons of needless pollutants are emitted while billions and billions of dollars are being wasted. If gas mileage is improved by 3% it would suggest the same would be true of tire life. That would be an astonishing number of dollars saved by corporate America over a one year period!

Because we as a society have not chosen a better alternative prior to this time, tire technology is going to purportedly come to our rescue. The latest tire technology includes expensive tire inflation monitoring equipment, and ever more expensive tires, that, provide tire flat protection. The solution is much simpler and much less expensive than any of these choices. We have been told a story the tire companies want us to believe. That is that, tire sealants are unreliable and therefore, cause tires to be unreliable, so we bought their stories and has accepted that tires that suffer punctures should be treated in a special way that supports their industry and not our immediate needs.

An effective “fix“ put in place prior to having a flat or under-flation event, would protect the tire, reduce air loss’, extend tire life, and increase gas mileage, and tire life at a cost of $12.00/tire would seem like the best choice.

The biggest threat to the tire and driver thereof, is heat build-up while driving. This is the culprit we are trying to detour from causing us undue pain and undue loss of life. A tire that flexes too much is a tire on its way out! Keep the inflation up to the proper level and you have won the fight. That would be a liquid you would choose to add while purchasing the tire and added at that time. A liquid that provides a solid plug; a mobile (liquid plug) that moves in the tire cavity and literally jumps into the puncture, or miniscule leak, in fractions of a second. The methodology is based on the concept of an ultra-low viscosity clay-like bio-friendly liquid that really works, instantly.

This concept of using a tire sealant proactively has already been found by many companies, who have already chosen this methodology, to gain tire reliability. Don’t trust the fox (tire companies) in the hen house to tell you the truth. Trust your inner judgment and choose something that works on time, in time, and all the time, at 1/10 th the price.

Recapping is an issue that will rise to the surface when push comes to shove. Early results indicate this is not a problem the recapper’s would like you to believe. They also have an interest in deterring any company from using a product that will extend the life of your tires at 1/10 the price of a tire repair.
